I refuse to accept defeat, so I kept poking at that piece and this is what I ended up with. I reaaaally don't like it, but.. its better than nothing.

 Hey, chin up man, it looks pretty good! I'd have to say that the only thing that seems slightly off-putting about it is the kid's expression- he seems shocked/frightened, I sort of assume you were aiming more towards amazement, or something?

 I love how you did the robot. Iron Giant is one of my favourite cartoon and I love it more and more now  -- =MatsuoAmon  Get rid of the noise in everything but the lights from the eyes (which would show a dust like effect) Personally i llike the camera angle and expression, but the noise is overused.

-- "A dreamer is one who can only find his way by moonlight, and his punishment is that he sees the dawn before the rest of the world" - Oscar Wilde ....then you need some rim lighting on the hand (which means also making the most front part of the hand darker) And if you are going to have that much light bending around his face, then split the face essentially in half and put the right side in shadow. Hope that helps.
